ART X LAGOS 2023 HIGHLIGHTS


Taking place from 2 - 5 November, 2023, the fair ended amidst reports of great acclaim from participants and attendees, who remarked on the fair’s responsiveness to its social context and the needs of its community in this particular year.

ART X PRIZE 2023 WINNERS


Access ART X Prize has announced the distinguished winners of its 2023 edition. After careful deliberation, Julius Agbaje from Nigeria and Asmaa Jama representing the Africa/Diaspora category were selected as the standout talents from an exceptional pool of finalists.

ART X TALKS


Explore ART X Talks with esteemed speakers like Bruce Onobrakpeya and Ibrahim Mahama, among others, thoughtfully curated by Missla Libsekal. They come together to foster dialogue, share unique perspectives on contemporary African art, and address pressing issues in Nigeria, Pan-Africa, and the Diaspora.

ART ACROSS BORDERS


Art Across Borders focuses on emerging voices within the African art community. The program places a spotlight on emerging voices within the African art community. In partnership with Afreximbank, the third edition showcased six dynamic artists under the age of 50, each representative of the innovative spirit that defines contemporary African art.

THE DEVELOPMENT FORUM 


The Development Forum aims at bridging the gap between emerging art practitioners and the art industry. Working as an orientation, The Development Forum is a conversation that brings together artists and art professionals from all horizons, in an informal and welcoming set up, to explore the various paths open to artists and curators, building and advancing their careers within the art ecosystem.

At ART X Lagos 2023, we launched ART X Cinema - a new section of the fair screening artist films. Taking inspiration from the Senegalese filmmaker, Ousmane Sembène, ART X Cinema is a place of encounter, engaging us to consider how artists disrupt, imagine and reinvent storytelling, and make visible what is emerging or re-emerging to help us find our bearings.

The eighth edition of ART X Live! featured headliners Tay Iwar and Azekel and Dope Caesar, an eclectic DJ. These three blended a tapestry of genres and showcased an exceptional performance.
