Gallery 1957

Gallery 1957 is a contemporary art gallery with spaces in Accra and London. Launched by Marwan Zakhem on Ghanaian Independence Day in 2016, the gallery was established to promote the visibility of Ghanaian and West African artists in the international art world. Its scope has since expanded to include the Global South and its diaspora. 

Dedicated to fostering cross-cultural exchange, Gallery 1957 presents artists who explore identity, belonging, cultural history, and narratives beyond the Western lens. 

The London space offers a broader platform for international dialogue, connecting artists with a growing network of global collaborators.
