ABOUT
Yenwa is proud to present The Sanctuary of Dreams, making its first presentation on the African continent.
This landmark solo exhibition, "The Sanctuary of Dreams," by Cameroonian-French conceptual artist Pierre-Christophe Gam marks a rare opportunity to experience the full breadth of this immersive body of work within a single environment.
Following a highly praised installation at Plásmata 3, Onassis Stegi in Athens, the internationally acclaimed polymath (who is based between London and Paris) brings his celebrated research and art practice to the African continent. The exhibition in Lagos brings together large-scale photographs, intricate hand-drawings, a hand-woven tapestry, and digital interventions in film, VR, and AR. This multi-sensory presentation creates an intimate yet ambitious space where ancestral mythologies meet speculative technologies.
Conceived as a "rite of return," The Sanctuary of Dreams makes its continental debut in Lagos because in the words of the artist, our city is a “window into the promise of an African Renaissance, that becomes the natural ground for this unveiling, a place where ancient and new dreams gather to shape our collective future." It invites audiences not only to view but to participate in a visionary ritual of collective future-making.
