Grounded in the artistic methodologies of Nigerian modern masters J.D. 'Okhai Ojeikere and Bruce Onobrakpeya, this initiative transforms the fair’s theme, “Imagining Otherwise, No Matter The Tide,” into a hands-on curriculum.
The programme will engage students from underserved Lagos communities through in-depth school workshops and a competition that will culminate in a dynamic, large-scale interactive installation and exhibition at ART X Lagos. By primarily using everyday objects, we will champion resourcefulness and the idea that art is accessible to all. The mission of the workshops is to empower children first to see their environment with an archivist's eye and then rebuild it with a dreamer’s hand, fostering a new generation of creative, resilient, and imaginative thinkers. Participants will engage with methods and materials that acknowledge today’s realities, as starting points to reimagine and shape the future.
